Adoption Assistance

ADOPTION ASSISTANCE

Texas Health offers reimbursement of up to $2,000 for the cost of legally adopting a child under age 18, unless mentally impaired.

Am I eligible to participate?

Full-time and part-time benefits-eligible employees are eligible. Reimbursements are per adoption, per year, per family.

You must have at least one year of service and be in a benefits-eligible position at the time you make the application and the child is placed in your home. You may not be reimbursed for adoption expenses for one spouse to adopt the other spouse’s children (for example, children from a previous marriage).

Don’t forget to submit documentation to Human Resources within 90 days of the date of the adoption to be eligible for reimbursement.

How do I participate?

After the adoption is final, submit the necessary documentation to Human Resources within 90 days of the date of adoption. Documentation includes the final Decree of Adoption, a Letter of Possession (if applicable) and a copy of itemized bills along with the adoption assistance application.

You must be in benefits-eligible active status in the HR/Payroll System at the time payment is made.
