Long Term Care

Universal Life Insurance with Long-Term Care Benefits

There are two Life Insurance benefits available through Texas Health. Click here to learn the difference in these two plans.

At any point in your life, you may need long-term care services, which help you perform basic daily activities like eating, bathing, getting dressed, getting in and out of bed, etc. These services could cost hundreds of dollars per day. Life Insurance through Trustmark includes a long-term care (LTC) benefit that can help pay for these services at any age. In the event you need Long-Term Care for an illness or disability, this benefit offers you peace of mind by preserving and protecting your financial assets.

Eligibility

Employees in a part- or full-time benefits eligible position are eligible to enroll in Life Insurance with Long Term Care.

  • Universal LifeEvents Insurance with Long-Term Care Benefit is available for issue for employees ages 18-64.
  • Universal Life Insurance with Long-Term Care Benefit is available for issue for employees ages 65-70.
  • Universal Life Insurance is available for issue for employees ages 71-75.
    • Note: this benefit does not include the Long Term Care benefit and is strictly a Life Insurance policy.

How it Works

You’ll elect coverage for a life insurance death benefit that provides the right protection for you. You’ll pay for this benefit through bi-weekly payroll deductions. The benefit you elect at enrollment remains at the same level throughout your life, so the full amount is always available when you need it most. In the event you need long-term care services, you can collect up to 4% of the death benefit per month for up to 25 months to help pay for those services.

Important Note: The LTC Benefit is an acceleration of the death benefit and is not Long-Term Care Insurance. It begins to pay after 90 days of confinement or services, and to qualify you must meet conditions of eligibility for benefits. Your policy will contain complete details. You should consult a financial advisor to determine if the long-term care benefits and the retirement benefits provided by this policy are right for you.
