BLUE ZONES

Blue Zones Project is a community-led well-being improvement initiative designed to make healthy choices easier through permanent changes to environment, policy, and social networks. Using the Power 9 principles, you can make small, manageable changes in your daily life that will help you feel happier and healthier.

Texas Health has long been a supporter of initiatives to improve well-being. In helping others improve their health, we also want to make sure we are healthy ourselves. That’s why we have had our Be Healthy wellness program for over a decade. In 2016, that program will also include becoming a Blue Zones Project® designated worksite. You can get involved by signing the Blue Zones Personal Pledge. Then, take action to fulfill your pledge:

  1. Learn about the original Blue Zones areas.
  2. Measure how long you will live using the Vitality Compass® tool.
  3. Participate in a Blue Zones Project activity, such as attending a “Purpose Workshop” at your entity or volunteering in your community.
  4. Select five actions you can complete in the next six months, such as keeping walking shoes near your front door or adopting a dog.
